October 23, 2009, Newsletter Issue #2: Dorm Security Measures

Tip of the Week

You may find there are a number of rules you don't like when living in a dormitory. However, these have been put together to keep you and your roommates safe. Dorm security measures include ways to prevent fires from spreading through the dorm. This means smoking, candles and hot pots are not allowed in dorms. Other rules include who can enter the dorm or visit rooms. To enter your dorm, you may be required to show ID verifying who you are.

Consequences for violating the rules in your dorm will vary by college. Penalties will be based on the severity of the offense, but range from receiving a verbal warning to being moved from the dorm.
